Government

This week we researched two careers in Government. My two careers were a Statistician and an Economist. The Economist just pretty much conduct research, prepare reports, or formulate plans to address economic problems related to the production and distribution of goods and services or monetary and fiscal policy. May collect and process economic and statistical data using sampling techniques and econometric methods. It makes $44.16 hourly and $91,860 annually. That is the median wage in U.S. anyways. Have you ever watched American Dad? The episode where Roger and Francine pretend to be a married couple and have friends over, Roger is into economics, even though he doesn't want to. It was in Season 2 "Camp Refoogee". The Statistician pretty much develop or apply mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical data to provide usable information. May specialize in fields such as bio-statistics, agricultural statistics, business statistics, or economic statistics. Includes mathematical and survey statisticians. They make $36.33 hourly and $52,700 annually. These are also the U.S median wages. Sadly, there is no episode of an animated TV show that I can say for this. My favorite was most defiantly the Economist. Even though I do not see myself going into this cluster.

What we did this week.

This week we did research on two different career clusters. The first being Education and Training, the second being Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. For the first one I picked A coach, and an author. The Coach made $23,360 annually which is below the state  poverty line for a household for 4. The Author made $55,940 which is a little better. For the second I picked a veterinarian and commercial diver. Which both were above the state poverty line. With the vet at $84,460 and the commercial diver at $46,880.

Arts

This week we researched the cluster of Arts. The two careers I picked were a Musical Therapist and a Musician. The reason behind these is because I have played a musical instrument since I was in 5th grade. I play the Alto Saxophone. Lets start with the Musician, in which I already am. They play one or more musical instrument or sing. May perform on stage, for on-air broadcasting, or for sound or video recording. They make $23.50 hourly... If they find a job. It is very hard to find gigs as a musician. The other one is a Musical Therapist. This one sounded extremely interesting to me. The job description is: Therapists use art or music to help clients express and deal with physical and emotional problems, they make $20.33. This job is a lot easier to find a job for. Most are even self-employed. I have always loved to help people and I have always loved my music. I highly think that there is a good possibility that I would go into this when I get older.

True Colors Part 2

Yesterday we had a lady named Sally from True Colors come in. She talked to us and let us know what the colors meant and what we were. I was a full blown orange. I got 24 on it which was the highest you could get. My second color was Blue, in which I scored 18, then gold, 11, and last green, 7. The lowest you get get was 6. This means I am very hyper-active. I love to be busy, and I absolutely love to stay active. If I stay home and lay around all day I tend to become angry, agitated, cranky, and my moods are all over the place. My life is kind of crazy. Someone who is a gold could definitely not live my life. I am very unorganized. I don't like to plan ahead. I like to just let whatever happens happen. I love to play games, and compete. I also need freedom. I can't be boxed up and told what to do all the time or you won't like me. At. All. I also don't like to follow rules. Don't get me wrong, i'm a good student in school and I don't disrespect people, but rules are meant to be broken, I am in trouble at home often because I don't listen and tend to argue. I have a short temper but I can also get along with people easy. This is also why I think blue matches up with me. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. You can tell if I'm in a bad mood. I will show it and if you try to mess with me, you'll get a mouth full. I am very sympathetic. I always have been. If someone tells me something I can't ever find the right words to say so I just say; I'm sorry. "My dog died" "I'm Sorry". "I'm hungry" "I'm Sorry". "I'm so stressed out!" "I'm sorry". I'm always sorry. I don't think Gold applies to me much as well as green. I am not organized. I am not eager to learn. I am a full blown Orange.

True Colors

Today we talked about True Colors. We were asked by Mr. Boyars to pick four teachers and friends and state what we think their colors are and why. My four teachers are Mr. Thomas, Mr. Boyars, Miss Hewitt, and Mr. Tripp. Mr. Thomas is Orange and Gold. He is this because he is very bright and likes to joke around but, he also has a temper. Mr. Boyars is Green and Gold. He is like Mr. Thomas very bright and likes to joke, and he is very outgoing. Miss. Hewitt is Blue and Green. She loves to learn as often as possible, and she is also one to joke around. She is mainly very happy but you can tell when shes down because her emotions show very easily. Mr. Tripp is Orange and Gold. He is always up and going, he is excited to try new things. He is also very organized. As a band teacher he kind of has to be.The four friends I am picking are Alex, Katlyn, Alexis, and Madison. I think Alex is Gold. She has to have everything organized all the time. She can not not know what she is doing that night, or weekend. She is on a schedule at all times, or else she freaks out. Katlyn is Orange. She is outgoing, hyper, fun, and well everything in the category of Orange. Alexis is Green. She has always been very smart and made honor roll. She is always ready to learn new things. Madison is just like Katlyn and myself. She is Orange for sure! She is always loud, outgoing, funny, and is one of those people who's moods can easily effect others.

Business, Management, and Administration

This week we did research in the Business, Management and Administration cluster. My two careers I researched were Court Reporter and Receptionists and Information Clerks. The Court Reporter was my favorite out of the two. They use verbatim methods and equipment to capture, store, retrieve, and transcribe pretrial and trial proceedings or other information. Includes stenocaptioners who operate computerized stenographic captioning equipment to provide captions of live or prerecorded broadcasts for hearing-impaired viewers. In other words they write and research the trials of the court. The second one answers inquiries and provide information to the general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization. They were similar in a way, I'll agree to that, but their pay was way different. The Court Reporter makes $23.15 an hour and $48,900 while the Receptionist and Informational Clerk makes $12.49 Hourly and $25,990 Annually. The Receptionist and Informational Clerk makes about half the Court Reporters. They both need a High School Diploma. They are both into Conventional and Enterprising. This was the connection I made between the two careers.

Style

This week we have been asked four questions. What is your style? What does your style mean to you? How does it impact your learning? How might you use this learning style knowledge to make things easier in high school and beyond? My style tactile learning. It means I am very hands on about things. Which I can totally agree with. I have to do the project or task on my own in order to learn. Like yesterday, Mr. Boyars taught me how to tie a tie. I had to tie the tie myself a couple of times before I actually learned how. So people who are visual learners will learn a lot differently than me. This learning style could help me in the long run, but it can also be difficult at times. Some teachers do not teach with hand on activities is how it'll be hard but, now that I know how I learn my grades will probably be a lot better. Sometimes I chew gum while studying, then chew the same gum during the test. The flavor brings back memories causing me to remember what I studied. I did an action then did the same action and learned. So yeah, this style definitely applies to me.
